Celestial Gala
Posted by: stefano on Friday, March 28, 2008 - 02:37 PM
Family Stories Well the first event of the year was certainly atmospheric. High winds, freezing cold, sleet, hail and snow took their toll upon the hardy players attending the Easter Maelstrom event.

Our thoughts go out to all those players who lost tents and marquees during the worst of the storm.

Despite the cold, players got on with the business of trading and stabbing each other up whenever the opportunity arose. The entertainments were fabulous and a credit to the Jade Lotus group who hosted this event.

Family Ties
Posted by: stefano on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 03:05 PM
Family Stories Well the Amici event is over. Family Ties appears to have been a success.

For the Amici, the time passed rather quietly (with the odd exception of a rent in the fabric of reality and the posiible end of the world) due to the untimely intervention of the Malathian Governor and peace breaking out.

Oddly enough, everyone else seemed to pick up the idea that now was the time to settle old scores and war appears to have broken out all over the place. Meanwhile, the Trade House area was calmly serene (only marred by the odd eidolon chasing fallen or vice versa).

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Trade Fair and that others will go on to stick all of the merchant types together in the future.

Of course, if you're thinking of hosting with a ritual site present but fear that strange things may happen, you can always call the Amici Institute of Science.

Luka Gets Married
Posted by: stefano on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 - 11:08 AM
Family Stories It came as a slight shock (especially to Luka I hear) when my nephew's wedding was announced. Accounts of the event tell that the bride wore a lovely snakeskin coat and that Sage wore her usual extremely large hat.

Reports that a large number of the family were carrying guns at the wedding or that Luka may have in any way been coerced into the marriage are as yet unfounded.

We wish the happy couple well and welcome Sage Amici-Elliot into the family.

Stefano's Birthday
Posted by: stefano on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 06:21 PM
Family Stories The dreaded date had finally arrived. It was Stefano's Birthday. The one that he'd being trying not to think about for the past ten years.

He gathered a small group of trusted family friends around him and explained the dilema. It was a special date. One that had to be marked. Marked in such a way that in ten years time, he could look back and think good thoughts about this night. But he could not bring himself to endure the torrent of jibes that would follow a public celebration. Better to not announce it to the world just yet.

They met after dark. Their disguises were good. No one would immediately recognise them. They slipped out into the stormy night and headed to the first of the taverns. In the distance, they could hear the Bards begin the first song .......

Erajen's Diary of the Maelstrom voyage

Family Stories
Erajens Diary of the Voyage through the Maelstrom.

Where to start…. I find myself on the voyage of the damned. Or at least it looks this way to me; I look through the porthole of my cramped cabin to see the strange purple mist that seems to surround us. The captain assures me that the corridor of the Maelstrom is navigable, but I remain sceptical. Although I will not deny that ships have negotiated this treacherous stretch of water successfully, it is, as the Millenees would say, “No Picnic”. In fact it remains the most hazardous shipping route in the known world, and the question that lurks at the back of my mind, is why now.
Why now has this corridor to this new world been opened?

I never really felt the need to keep a journal before; in fact I never really had time, between the partying, gambling and courting, or is that partying! I’m not entirely sure why I suddenly need to take quill to parchment, perhaps its boredom, or maybe it’s the only thing that’s keeping me sane as we travel through the corridor of hell. The sailors I think share my fears, in fact they talk of the spirits of shipwrecked mariners haunting this place. While I did not believe in ghosts before, since my cousin Nicodemus wrote to my uncle Stefano about his findings on magic, I find I might have to re-evaluate my beliefs, or lack thereof.

The ships Surgeon died today, a case of food poisoning is the official line, however I hear some of the other crew talking of a disease caused by the Maelstrom. The Captain soon quashed these rumours threatening a flogging to anyone who is caught rumour mongering about this.
So we now find ourselves without a surgeon, if my cousin Ricardo was here things suddenly wouldn’t seem so bleak, he attended the Medical Academy in Nordon city back home. He even graduated, even after that incident about un-orthodox experiments. Uncle Stefano managed to make that one go away…

Several of the Crew were injured last night during a particularly violent storm, although we maintain our course through the corridor, it is almost as if someone does not wish us to reach our destination.
Evie, my sister, is tending to the injured crewmen as best she can, although she is no surgeon, her bedside manner may well help in there healing process.

A miracle. That is what the crew are calling it. Evie, magically healed one of the crewmen who were injured. Obviously her laborious studies in her cabin over the last weeks have paid off. The spirits of the sailors seem lifted by this, and even I can notice the difference. My only hope is we get out of this wretched Maelstrom soon.

The captain says that we only have a couple more days to travel until we emerge from the other side. What can I expect on the other side, stories told in the Guild houses and court of Nordon indicate many strange new races exists. Creatures beyond imagination, animated statues and trees that have learned to mimic speech, and human sized Bugs and Lizard beings. I’m sure Ricardo will have much to study. I myself, will be looking after the new Sacuza Guild house in Tradetown. A job I am not sure I am especially suited to, however Uncle Stefano is not the sort of person you say no to.

How I ended up here is perhaps not the most interesting story, however, perhaps in years to come when I look back at this I may gain some insight I do not have now, Then again, perhaps someone else has found this journal in the wreckage of this ship,Who knows what my future holds. Anyway, I digress. Father sent me to get me out of his sight, the family screw up, the drunk and the poor gambler. Uncle Stefano always called me his favourite nephew, which is more praise than my father ever gave me, all I ever got from him was his disappointment.
My older brother, Vittorio got all the attention and honours of the House, while I was left struggling for my fathers approval…. The gods only know why I bother, perhaps if I were a religious man, I could divine these answers, but I’m not.
Speaking of gods I find myself thinking of this new land, and the terrifying wonder it presents, I heard a story in the Black Sail Tavern in Nordon before I left. A tale of angels and demons in this new land, at first I thought it a mere folk story told by superstitious sailors, until I actually saw who was telling it. He was no sailor, but a merchant, and with no reason to lie or spook the mariners. He was speaking of an ancient feud , a war between angels and demons who called themselves Eidolons, apparently this war is continuing once more, now that they are free of Maelstrom that
Bound them. Can this be true?

Just heard the call that the Maelstrom is breaking, we’re coming out the other side. At long last.

I found Evie and Lucia at the bow of the ship taking in the view. They seem excited by the possibilities it presents. All I can think of is “don’t screw this up Erajen!”
