Family Stories Well the first event of the year was certainly atmospheric. High winds, freezing cold, sleet, hail and snow took their toll upon the hardy players attending the Easter Maelstrom event.

Our thoughts go out to all those players who lost tents and marquees during the worst of the storm.

Despite the cold, players got on with the business of trading and stabbing each other up whenever the opportunity arose. The entertainments were fabulous and a credit to the Jade Lotus group who hosted this event.
Fortunately, the Amici survived the onslaught of the weather with only a couple of slightly bent poles. We made the decision early on to not bother putting up our usual gazebo city and instead, huddled into a reduced 5 room structure. Stew, coffee and mulled wine was kept on the go most of the time so that people could get warm in the back area.

Business was certainly slow with few people wanting to brave the elements but the new beer tent was certainly inviting with its increased space, improved decorations and heater.

Unfortunately, the lack of a ritual site meant that the intrepid scientists of the Amici Institute of Science were unable to demonstrate any new descoveries. However, the storms appeared to have increased the number of ships requiring repairs so the Shipwrights and Shipyard owners are happy.
